Chanting away from A1 to B2 level

Chants are captivating  pieces of language which  wear the emotional power of music and rhythm. They are repetitive patterns which rhyme and focus on particular aspects of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation or structure. They are aesthetic because the notes in their melody correspond to the phonemes in their words. In chants, language sound and poetry merge. If one changes the order of words in the chant, the rhyme makes no sense. With finger or glove puppets or any other attention grabbing props, the right tone of voice, expression, passion, mime, gesture and movement, chants plant words  or structures  in the students’  brain offering speaking practice at the same time.
