The drama and story telling element in teaching  the language

“Anyone who” is an adopted version of a classic drama game and goes like this. The teacher stands in class and says “Anyone who is wearing black and grey come here and give us as many words about clothing as you can remember”. The child who is wearing black and grey, gets up and says the words that come to his mind. With older students the teacher could ask “Anyone who is wearing a blue T-shirt, come here and give us a sentence in the passive voice”. So the student wearing the blue T-shirt comes forward and gives a sentence in the passive voice. Before going back to his seat this student makes his own suggestion; for instance “Anyone who has the longest hair come here and give us a sentence in the passive voice in question form”. Every time the person in the middle executes the order and leaves the center, after he has given a new order, a new suggestion. Open-ended suggestions are preferable as they allow for a number of contexts. With questions like ‘Anyone who has walked on mount Olympus, come and share three things you learnt there”, or “Anyone who has watched “Superman”, come and tell us what has made a great impression on him/her”. Whoever gets up will have to make good use of tenses. So, this activity can be used to reinforce grammar points apart from allowing the group to  get to know more about each other while speaking in English.
