TESOL GREECE LITERATURE AND  DRAMA SIG

The vast majority of us teachers of English recognise Literature as an invaluable aid to language learning and are aware of how to utilize it in class. We acquired official instruction during our University years. That is not the case however with Drama in second language acquisition or education in general. Very few of us have had official instruction on drama in the teaching process. Nevertheless, thanks to our constant updating and imagination we involve practices which do just that. For example, depending on the stimuli of the lesson, we often use quick to set up and fun to do improvisation activities to spice our lesson and prepare our students for the next part of the lesson which will possibly be passive. We incorporate verbal or non verbal warmers and drama activities in our lesson for the sake of  the kinesthetic or social learning type of students who do not respond well to regular classroom activities.

Occasional improvisation activities give us a golden opportunity to connect with them.
